The CyberLogic Team

Staff-and-Skills

"Great vision without great people is irrelevant." -- Jim Collins

People are the heart of a business and this is particularly true in a service-orientated company like CyberLogic. We go to great lengths to find the best people and to motivate them to excel. All our staff are highly skilled and experienced - in fact, the average CyberLogic engineer has been working in the IT industry for over ten years! So you can rest assured that the people working on your systems have the training and the experience required to get the best performance out of your computer network.

Edge Bisset

Rank: Head honcho

The most senior (so to speak) member of the team, Edge has been involved in the IT services industry since the nineteen hundreds, when he worked as a consultant in the fields of IT management and IT security. He has also managed the internal IT departments for companies such as Mercantrade (now DataCash PLC). His passion for bringing "good IT" to SMEs prompted him to launch CyberLogic in 2006. Apart from his strong technical background, Edge also holds an MBA from UCT. The big cheese (and with a sense of humour to match), Edge leads CyberLogic from the front - on the way to the coffee machine! This old guy may look laid-back but don't get between him and his cappuccino. It may be the caffeine, or it may be his goal-oriented nature, but something keeps him striving for change. Whether it's doing his pilot's license, climbing Kilimanjaro or cycling the Cape Epic, Edge strives to cram as much as possible into the time he has left. He may have been around since the epoch, but luckily Edge's mind is still as sharp as ever - for the most part! So if you find him wandering around your local coffee shop, muttering to himself about how the planet is going to drown in discarded packaging, please return him to us. He has the keys to the server room in his pocket...

Giancarlo Bravetti

Rank: Chief propeller head

The head of our Technical Services department, Giancarlo started working at Cyberlogic in 2007 and through hard work and dedication, has shared in the company's success and growth to date. A little less "growth" would have been nice, but he blames winter for the "spare capacity". Giancarlo's career spans 12 years in the industry, specialising in networking technologies and in particular the Microsoft products. He recently obtained his Associate In Management (AIM) qualification from the University of Cape Town. Every little bit counts when managing this lot! Luckily, Giancarlo handles pressure like a champion, balancing work and home life with a rigorous exercise routine. The original Italian Stallion, he is a finely-tuned machine with two Cape Argus Cycle Tours under his belt and more on the way. Luckily for Lance Armstrong, Giancarlo is the proud father of two, and he takes that responsibility very seriously. So much so that he's decided to hold off on the Tour de France for a few years... just until the kids are a bit older... ;-)

She understands the dark art of "filing" and can produce a petrol slip from 2006 in under 30 seconds. Alicetine has a heart of gold but can go from Alicetine to Ali-gator very quickly if you get on her wrong side! At home she's a caring mother to six cats, four dogs, a rabbit, a turtle, a boa constrictor and a 12kg bearded dragon (yes, really!) *~~♥~~*

Hendri Boshoff

Rank: NOC Chief

With over 10 years in IT and multiple qualifications including Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional (MCITP) and Certified SonicWALL Security Administrator (CSSA), Hendri certainly knows his way around a server room! And holding his Associate in Management (AIM) from UCT, means that he has just the right kind of experience to head up our Network Operations team! After working at some of the largest IT companies in SA (and developing a serious allergy to red tape), he has decided that the SME market is where he wants to be. But there's more to Hendri than just being a technology specialist: he's also the proud winner of the coveted "Movember 2009" moustache-growing contest and a world-renowned handbag expert. Hendri is not afraid to wear pink - but never on Thursdays!

Johannelie Jackson

Rank: Lead care-giver

Johannelie joined the CyberLogic Team in March 2011 as an Account Manager, where her natural mothering instinct is used to great effect. She will stop at nothing to ensure that our clients feel well looked after! Aside from a strong sales background, including 9 years in Telecoms, Johannelie is also a certified MLSE - or Microsoft Licensing Sales Expert. Johannelie continues her nurturing role at home, where she is mother to two kids and two dogs. If she had spare time, she says would love to paint, body board or read, but there's more to Johannelie than meets the eye; rumour has it she can't resist a man in lederhosen!

Rafique Railoun

Rank: Network guru

The "smooth operator" in our team, Rafique's outgoing nature makes him very popular with our clients, while his snappy dress code sets him apart in the IT crowd. It isn't just his dress sense that is sharp though. Rafique possesses a rare passion for technology. In fact, he has been known to sing to his computers, soothing them into a relaxed state for maximum performance. Rafique started out in IT at a young age, offering computer repair services from his father's garage, and he still enjoys taking gadgets apart and putting them back together again - give or take a few screws! With certification from Microsoft and Cisco under his patent leather belt, Rafique has come a long way from those garage days, but his passion for IT remains the same. Describing himself as a "Secure Trusted Connection, with uncapped help at your disposal!", Rafique clearly loves what he does. And when he's done with his IT work? He relaxes by playing computer games, particularly the Xbox game Battle Field, where he prefers to play the sniper. Talk about techno-joy!

Craig Kruger

Rank: NOC Ninja

One of the younger members of the team, Craig joined CyberLogic in 2008. He is an HP Accredited Platform Specialist (HPAPS), Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) and he also holds a Computer Science Diploma. With all of his qualifications and a decade of IT experience under his belt, there isn't a technical problem that he can't solve! He may seem like the sweetest guy you ever met, but don't be deceived...Craig is the quiet, deadly type, with a background that nobody asks questions about! He came to CyberLogic with a black belt in Karate and a reputation in the IT underworld as "The Pacifier", but has since enjoyed a spiritual re-awakening (though we won't hesitate to send him around if you don't pay your bill! ;-) Since he became a man of peace, Craig likes to unwind with hobbies such as golf, tennis, squash and gym. In his own words: I'll keep trying until I find one i am good at! :)

Desmond Torr

Torr. Desmond Torr. On an under-cover mission from CyberLogic to solve the most sensitive technical challenges, agent Torr lives a covert life of mystery and intrigue. Our files show that he was born in Durban, South Africa, although his parents have not been identified and his staunch support for the Sharks may just be part of an elaborate cover. We do know that, over the last decade, he has received training at an undisclosed location, where he mastered the art of networking and was certified MCSE and then MCITP. His early missions in the field are classified, but we know he specialised in "industrial IT", which leads us to believe that he isn't afraid to get his hands dirty, and indeed, our sources tell us that he dismantled and re-assembled his first computer before booting it up. One thing we know for sure is that Mr Torr follows a strict fitness regime, including marathon running and tri-athlons, so don't try to take him on foot...he is considered armed and extremely dangerous!

Ashley Wainer

The sun is setting over an idyllic ocean as the children build their sand castles and the lovers walk hand in hand along the water's edge. Suddenly there is a piercing scream and you turn to see a gruesome sight: a man in an orange Speedo. Yes. Orange. Your head spins as you struggle to deal with this assault on your senses. Luckily, Ashley Wainer has a reason for wearing that Speedo. A trained life guard with American Red Cross certification, he is there to revive you as you slip into unconsciousness. And his healing powers don't end there, for Ashley is also a highly trained network operations specialist. Whether your CPU needs CPR or your backups need a back rub, Ashley's healing hands will make it all OK again. So while you recover from your dizzy spell, he can optimise your computer network, ensuring that every machine is performing at it's peak. By the time you come around, you'll be so happy with your network performance that you'll forgive Ashley for that ghastly Speedo he's wearing. It's all in a day's work for Ashley, who is also a trained martial arts expert, proficient in every discipline from Aikido to Muay Thai. Talk about skills!

Martin Botha

He came from the bush... Martin (or Marty to those who know him) is the man Bear Grylls wishes he could be! Marty was born in the bundu, and grew up in the Limpopo region. Rugged country. Tough country. No place for sissies, or fans of Coldplay! Eventually though, like Mowgli from the Jungle Book, he was lured into the big city. In Marty's case it was his lust for technology that finally drew him out of the wild. Once he was properly house broken, he took to the IT world like a flamingo takes to the balmy waters of the Okavango delta. Marty is a natural tracker, but these days he spends more time tracking down network problems than tracking down warthog or buffalo. Give him the scent, and Marty will spend all day on the spoor of a technical challenge! Still, he likes to go back to his roots as often as possible, and particularly enjoys enduro racing on his KTM machine. There's more to this tough guy than meets the eye, though.. Marty has a soft side too. In his quiet moments, he enjoys playing the guitar and collecting books. He also wants to give Tango dancing a shot. The man who set his parents' banana tree on fire when he was 12 has come a long way, and he will go further yet! Watch this space...

Michael Lawrence

Rank: Rock star!

Something strange is happening out in Paarl. We suspect that it may be some kind of genetic engineering expriment, but so far the only proof we have is Michael. Michael is an anomaly. To start off with, he weighs in at 102kg, and can bench press 140kg with one hand tied behind his back. Having played Hooker for Paarl Gymnasium, he is obviously a staunch supporter of the Stormers and the Bokke. That much is not surprising. But then, Michael is also an accomplished musician. He mastered the guitar and drums at a young age and went on to play in rock bands for 5 years. Having conquered the Paarl music scene with 'treffers' such as 'Meisie Sonder Sokkies' and 'Jan Asseblief Tog', he set his sights on the IT industry and proceeded to rack up a string of qualifications that would make Bill Gates blush. He is a Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), Microsoft Enterprise Messaging Administrator, Cyberoam Certified Network and Security Professional, and he also holds the ITIL Foundation certificate, amongst others! So, to summarise, he has the power to weight ratio of a bison, the musicianship of Mozart and the IQ of Einstein (who also happens to be his fashion idol!). So, you have to agree... something very odd is happening out in Paarl!

Malcolm Brits

Rank: Network guru

Awwww.... isn't he sweet? Everything about Malcolm is sweet! Fresh from his home town of Pretoria, he still has the sweet smell of Jacaranda blossoms about him. And being the kind of guy he is, he is still dating his high school sweetheart. But what got our attention first is the sweet list of qualifications he has to his name! Malcolm has earned more certifications than most systems engineers twice his age! Aside from a string of Microsoft titles, including the MCITP and MCSA on 2008 and 2012, he also comes with his CSSA (Certified SonicWALL Security Administrator), as well as the Comptia Network+ and Comptia Security+ qualifications and he is now studying towards his BTech degree. We don't know how he managed to achieve all of this so young. One theory is that his mother must have been reading technical manuals while he was in the womb, and that the knowledge somehow passed on to him. We will let you know when we find out more about this novel study method. What we do know in the meantime, though, is that Malcolm is a Bulls supporter and that he is a pilot for a UK-based virtual airline, flying "real simulator" Boeings around the world. We also know that he is a keen marksman, and was once a member of the Northern Gauteng Shooting Team. In fact, he competed in the South African shooting championships in 2007. So while he's a sweet guy, it probably pays to stay on his good side. Maybe one day, when he starts to shave, he'll look more like Dirty Harry. Until then, he's just our sweet little Malcolm!
